The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
5.0
Second read, 3.2018, 4.5/5
I had been meaning to reread The Shadow of the Wind for a really long time as I loved it the first time around and wanted to continue on with the loose series after, but felt like I needed to freshen my memories with this one. Now I finally have! I must say that remembering some crucial plot points did reduce my enjoyment a little bit and I also found the metaphor filled prose slightly tacky, at least in the beginning. Later I got used to them as part of Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s writing style. However, the story in itself is just so wonderful, diverse and genius, that I flew through this and I’m finally ready to read more about the cemetery of forgotten books.
First read, 8.2015, 5/5
I had high expectations for The Shadow of the Wind and it was even better. Carlos Ruiz Zafon is genius and amazing as a storyteller. If you like mystery, suspense, romance, history or just literary in general, read this.
