The Ikessar Falcon by K.S. Villoso

4.0

I was excited to start this one after really enjoying the first book. I wasn’t expecting the epicness to be ramped up as much as it was and it was a nice surprise

There’s a lot more of a focus on what makes a book epic fantasy, there was more dragons, magic and political intrigue introduced into this world, which I thought was lacking in book 1, and it really gave it more of an epic fantasy feel

You’ll either love or dislike this main character and as it’s only one POV this could be make or break for some people but I personally had a blast following her. She’s definitely got a strong personality and she doesn’t half get herself into some sticky situations but everything always reverts back to her being reunited with her son which added to the stakes of any decisions made

This is considerably longer than the first book so there was more conversations to be had and the pacing was slowed down slightly in comparison but there’s revelations throughout, action scenes and some great plot changing moments

I think this is a really underrated series and I can’t wait to find out how it concludes. It doesn’t compare to majority of the big league epic fantasy books don’t get me wrong but it’s definitely shaping up to be an enjoyable series
