Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

5.0

I LOVED this collection of poems. Rupi Kaur is quickly becoming one of my favorite poets, if not my number one favorite. She has a way with words that gets you down to your core and just resonates with you - which is probably why I like her so much. I loved that this book came with little doodles that augmented the poems, as well. For those of you that don't love poetry but are interested in reading this collection, I would definitely recommend picking it up and trying it out. Her poetry is easily accessible to everyone - not difficult to read but still packs a punch. So many poetry collections I feel like I don't understand or am missing something, but not this one.

My favorite poem:
"you tell me
i am not like most girls
and learn to kiss me with your eyes closed
something about the phrase - something about
how i have to be unlike the women
i call sisters in order to be wanted
makes me want to spit your tongue out
like i am supposed to be proud you picked me
as if i should be relieved you think
i am better than them"
