If you're looking for a fast-paced, fantasy romance, then PLEASE check out The Veiled Kingdom by Holly Renee. This is book #1 in the incomplete The Veiled Kingdom trilogy that's available on Kindle Unlimited.

I'll preface this review with: I absolutely love Holly Renee's writing style. If you haven't read her complete A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows, you should. The pace of this novel and the way she develops her worlds and characters is consistent.

The start of The Veiled Kingdom hooks you straight into this world following the 1st person POV of Nyra, our FMC. She is a princess on the run from her wicked father, the King, and is trying to escape him and his reign. However, she's captured by rebels and has one of two choices: pledge loyalty to the rebels or d!e at their hands. Enter: Dacre, our MMC, the son of the ruthless rebellion commander (hello, new book boyfriend).

Even though this is only the first book in the series, Holly Renee gives her readers A LOT. It is packed with secrets, training sessions (😏), and tension you can cut with a πŸ”ͺ. She also does a fantastic job at developing our two leadsβ€”our fiery, independent Nyra and headstrong, morally grey Dacreβ€”and side characters.

If you're like me and "shop" for books by tropes:
πŸ–€ 1st person, dual POV (FMC & MMC)
πŸ’— Enemies to lovers
πŸ–€ Secret identity
πŸ’— Training sessions
πŸ–€ Possessive, jealous MMC
πŸ’— Forbidden romance
πŸ–€ "Who did this to you?"
πŸ’— "Good girl"

I'm not sure my heart can take waiting until July for the second book in this series given that cliffhanger (!?!), but I will absolutely be reading it as soon as it releases.
