How to Fall in Love by Cecelia Ahern
4.0
I know there are quite a few negative reviews about this book, and while I would agree with some, I actually just really enjoyed this book as a whole, without picking it apart and disecting it to within an inch of its life. Once you start plucking out all of the negatives then you lose yourself in those rather than concentrating on the fact that it was a sweet, funny read.
I liked how Christine evolved, relying on Adam almost as much as he did her. At first I thought that I wouldn't like her, but I came to find her quite charming by the end.
I thought there were some really funny moments, just the dialogue and the banter. I found myse laughing more than once, despite the subject matter.
I would agree with the reviews that in a real world Christine would be more harmful than helpful to Adam, as she was just as damaged as he, but this is a book! Isn't that why we read books? To get away from realism?!
I didn't give the full five stars because I felt like after their amazing journey, we were just abandoned. I wanted to know why Adam suddenly and fervently wanted his place at Basils. I wanted to see if Christine moved to Tipperary and helped, or whether she took up an occupation as a therepist?
I just wanted a bit more to end on than a kiss on a bridge.
