AM Johnson writes such a beautiful story. She has a lovely poetic style that lulls you in and makes you want to live inside the book. This was me finally making my way into her back-catalogue, and boy it was a treat.
"This world is such a big place, and most of the time we never find the people we're looking for. People look all their lives for the one person who understands their heart. We search, and hope, and I think... it's a blessed few who find it on their first try."
Royal and Camden were so real and stunning. Two young men who are trying to figure themselves out, and make their own way, all while feeling an intense pull to each other. It was powerful and sweet. They found strength in each other. As reality and tough choices swirled around them, they held on to each other. And thankfully they had some amazing people around them to make it all easier. Really you couldn’t ask for a better BFF than Kai.
Aaron Shedlock and Teddy Hamilton do a really wonderful job as the narrators. They seem to really understand the characters and the literary style. If you enjoy audiobooks, this is a good one.
