Mutant Pride by S.J. Whitby
5.0
This book feels like home. Cute Mutants is a very queer, very cute exploration of a world with mutants.
I loved the idea that this group of teens all developed their mutant powers from kissing a girl. It's such a typical way for teenagers to experiment with their identity and I really think it's so perfect that they ultimately find themselves as a result of this. Immediately, I saw such wonderful traits in Dylan that resonated with me in such a personal way, that I really couldn't put the book down. Being told with Dylan's voice, it has the perfect balance of wit, humour, self-doubt and X-men trivia.
The writing in this book was superb, the pace was perfect, and the characters were so strong. The way the characters find strength within themselves and within the group they find is really nice to see!
This is just so perfectly queer and adorable and it delivers everything it promises to.
