Lord of Emperors by Guy Gavriel Kay
5.0
A worthy sequel to Sailing to Sarantium. The characters and themes on display throughout are vivid and complex as a mosaic. The themes especially speak to a very human desire. Being an artist/author myself, they particularly resonated with me.
I did feel as though the first quarter of this book dragged a bit before things really started to pick up again, but that would be my only complaint. Once things started moving, it was thrilling until the very end.
I did not want the story to end as I will miss these characters and the setting. That is the highest praise I can give to a book.
