The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin
4.0
A gripping read, and exquisitely written (though there are a lot of typos in my edition). I actually found the psychological thriller piece to be much more compelling than the social commentary/“what would the world be like if” piece, with the exception of the elimination of race, which I thought to be interesting. Additionally I found the long descriptions of and lore about what Portland/the world would look like in the many alternate 2002s to be only mildly interesting/relevant but I can totally see how many readers would eat that up. Also, the aliens!!!!! I loved them!!!!!
