Renegades by Marissa Meyer

5.0

After reading this for the third time, I can say with undeniable certainty that Renegades is a favorite of mine, both the individual book and the entire trilogy. This book could not have been more perfectly paced, and the action scenes are full of all the tension and staging you could want. There is a complex plot and an intriguing political climate, accompanied by layered characters. All the characters, not just Nova and Adrian, make morally-questionable, yet justifiable decisions. Both sides—the Renegades and the Anarchists—propose interesting and viable points, but they also have their flaws. The moral complexity of this story and its characters is astonishing. Renegades immaculately explores the fine line between justice and vengeance, and expertly navigates the gray area between good and evil, in which we all inevitably fall.
