<spolier> Aric is the epitome of a complex protagonist. Watching him and his bond with Eldras grow over the course of the book was absolutely fantastic. The complexity of the characters and the depth of world building kept me reading late into the night and wishing for more. If you're considering this book, I highly recommend it to any fans of the fantasy genre </spolier>
