This is a devotional-type book with 100 verses of encouragement from the bible with a commentary of sorts for each verse by the book's author, Troy Schmidt. The bible verses were great but some of Mr.Schmidt's additions were a bit lacking and felt cliche and trite. The author also uses many different translations of the bible for the verses he chose and identified which translation he used for some verses, but not for others. I would like to have known which translation he was using for all the verses. This book would best be read one verse/commentary at a time over 100 days like a devotional. That would give the reader time to read and ponder each verse. I read the book quickly so I could review it and may go back and reread it now and mark the verses in my preferred King James Version of the bible. This is not the best book of its kind on the market, but it is probably not the worst either. Bethany House publishers sent me a copy for my honest review and I honestly give it three *** stars.
