I would suggest an alternative title for this book …. The ‘silent’ voice of Miriam Pepper.

Arthur’s journey of discovery (and recovery from grief) hinges on his exploration of his now dead wife’s life before meeting and marrying Arthur. There are good reasons to appreciate the story .. it is mostly ordinary and I definitely celebrate the ordinary …. but there is just the suggestion as I read that could this not be told Miriam?

It seems Arthur is a big winner in this story … he has a happy and loving wife and when he becomes a widow he gets to have new adventures (because of his dead wife’s early life) and then a new life to explore as well… I shall continue to ponder this .. the silent dead wife and the busy, adventurous husband…???
