Since these books have many repetitive points, like hunting, quarreling (most of the time it is Toklo who starts and Lusa calms everyone down, she is still my favorite) and of course WANDERING, it was nice to have a character like Nanulak to add some change to the story.

At first he just behaved weirdly but seemed innocent enough and then he got worse and worse, which added some tension that I found interesting though the explanation with his family was a bit flat i gotta say
