The Gilded Hour by Sara Donati

4.0

This was a very engrossing novel and a fascinating look at life in 1880's Manhattan as a female doctor. It deals with misogyny, racism, child abuse, grief, romance, and medicine. I really loved the characters and their unusual family lives, as well as the love that blossoms in Anna Savard's life.

I didn't really care for the switching of perspectives within a given chapter, as it diluted the flow and felt like lazy writing to me. I also wish that there had been more about Sophie Savard, but the next book in the series is about her, so I'll add that to my TBR.
