Warning: you might get whiplash from the twists! I thought this book was fantastic! So much unforseen stuff,
that was heavily hinted at in hindsight
a truly thrilling story that got my pulse racing at times. The illustrations are beautiful and eerie at the same time. A spooky read, perfect for spooky season! I loved it!
In hindsight I was kicking myself for not getting that Teddy was a girl (the shower scene where he asked about girlparts and how they just started to teach him about privacy). And the whole Anna Berret storyline was a massive red herring! Amazing! Now of course there wrre some redundant characters. Adrian didn't really play that big a role. Just a loveable little sidekick/love interest. I also loved how Mallory may have been Christian, but it truly remained a personal faith. It never felt like it was shoved down the reader's throat.
The beginning with the male gaze study made so much sense, when we found out that Ted has been watching her the entire time. It would've made perfect sense to be Anya. But it all connects, it all makes sense and it was all misleading till the last second.
Flora wanting no contact with Mallory afterwards was such a bittersweet reveal, but that made it feel even more real. There is so much to love about this book.
I went through the pictures after finishing it and you can see so many hints! Bunnies everywhere to start with!
I always find it frustrating when the MC doesn't get believed by people, but in the end everyone believed her. They just told her they don't. It is so frustrating but now I see it was part of Caroline's plan all along. Ted misreading signs and jerking off in her bed was so cringy, but yet again, so real. What can I say. I loved the book. <\spoiler>
