Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
5.0
Even better the second time!! I am so in love with this book!

This is not just a fun story about a quiet boy coming out (though it certainly is that). It is about finding yourself and learning to accept who you are.
Simon has such a wonderful and inspiring character arc. He starts out as a closeted gay boy who is reluctant to come out because he doesn’t want anyone’s opinion of him to change, though he accepted this part of himself long ago. Over the course of the book, he realizes that what other people think of him, whether those opinions are positive or negative, does not matter as much as his own perception of himself. As long as he is proud of every part of his identity, he can be content.
Basically, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a sweet and adorable story, with a not-so-hidden inspirational message. It’s great. Go read it.
P.S. I read this in one night, one sitting. Picked up the e-book at around 8 pm, finished at 4 am. Not kidding.
