Did we really dismantle the world built over the past five books for... this?
Beyond the disaster of the deus ex machina worldbuilding (because why create reasonable conflict when you can just change the well-established principles of the magic system on a whim), the plot was scattered due to the constant back-and-forth POV switching.
On that note, Nina's POV was entirely redundant and made the story DRAG. SO. MUCH. The other characters were bland, like shadows of themselves.
Overall, a boring read. Had high expectations, was severely disappointed.
