Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

3.0

So on the one hand Hallelujah! A book about older people that is realistic and addresses the way life deals unexpected cards.. it is a bugbear of mine that older people are seldom written well in fiction. These are interconnected stories with Olive being the thread that binds them together. I think Olive is loved by many people who read this. I can see why. But ultimately, much as I really, really liked this book, it wasn’t one that I loved. It was pleasant and I would recommend it but something made the people seem not quite real. I will probably pick up Olive Again tho at some point. Anyway, reading is subjective. That’s it
