The horrors of a ritualistic murder force Detectives Khalaji and Yoon to start trusting one another seriously, as each man comes to realise how much he now relies on his partner. With the demands of the case cleaving a path through the emotional barriers of both men, a menacing figure from Seong-Jae's past makes himself known.
Honestly, I would give this book 5* just for that brief scene at the end where the penny drops, and you realise oh-my-god-it's-him-it's-him-it's-him! :O :O :O That interaction between The Nameless Man and Khalaji was incredible and gave me such shivers. He's looking for his lost black cat?! Who he knows will always come home, sooner or later?! OH MY GOD Mal, get out there and project your Seong-Jae from this menace.
At some point I'm going to have to go back to the beginning of this series and figure out when he first appears, and to be fair I should have realised he'd be the villain the second there was the mention of a British accent xD but what British accent?! I'm picturing him as Scouse or Manc right now because I think that accent works so well for menace. There's definite Sherlock/Moriarty vibes between Seong-Jae and Sila right now, and I loved the confirmation of Seong-Jae's grey-ace/demisexuality and his perfect comfort of Mal.
