This is not my typical read, but it caught my eye. It's a gothic mystery set in the south - a writer who is sent to help solve a mystery - or at least write about one. I thought it was well-put together. Charlotte is struggling with her own life issues and is thrust into a family's problems that look almost unsolvable - the disappearance/death of a small son. The mystery remains unsolved some thirty years later but what comes of Charlotte digging into it is quite interesting. I found myself glued to this one....it was intriguing - you didn't know who to trust and I think that's strong character work!
