Interesting Facts About Space by Emily Austin
5.0
Wow, have you ever read a quiet book that has no plot but manages to become engaging by throwing interesting facts about the main character? Well this new novel from Emily Austin perfectly fits in that category.
In Interesting Facts about Space, we follow Enid, a data analyst who works in Space Agency, and her slices of life. We basically read about Enid and what she's been going through as an adult who fears that she's capable of being a terrible person.
Enid's aware of her major phobia for bald men, her complex family dynamics after the death of the father who left them for another family, her obsession with true crime stories and podcasts, and her tested ways of being romantically involved with someone.
Even if this is a no plot-slice of life book, I can see this one being a hit since Emily Austin delivered a raw and humanistic dissection on how complicated a human can be through Enid's story. I am also certain that the many parts of Enid's personality will be relatable to readers since Enid's voice exposes some of the hard truths that most of us can't fathom to confront.
For me, this can be categorized as an adult existentialism story with realistic depiction of complex human struggle that aims to be insightful and, of course, hopeful.
RATING: 4.5stars
