Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead
4.0
I finished 2016 with one of the VA series and I've started 2017 with the final one. This was a pretty angsty read, from a storyline and relationship point of view. I wanted what I don't doubt every reader of this series has wanted but it took a long time to get there. Yet, I believed the journey that Dimitri took, in particular. He needed to heal, forgive himself and begin to look to the future and restoration of hope.
I know that Lissa's story and the conspiracy against Rose in the Moroi court was essential to the culmination of all the events of the six books and yet I wanted to stay with Rose and Dimitri's POV. I didn't always want to keep shifting to Lissa's mind and her intrigue. Adrian annoyed me but I did feel sorry for him.
This series has been a most unusual binge read and I have loved every minute of adoration, frustration, upset, anger and did I mention adoration? Dimitri is my newest bad-ass hero and I definitely won't forget him. I have enjoyed Richelle Mead's writing talents and will aim to discover more of her work in 2017.
Lastly, I have to say my enjoyment of this series has been enhanced by the book friends and GR friends cheering me on. This series clearly has lots of fans and I've enjoyed the banter hugely.
