The Age of Wonder: How the Romantic Generation Discovered the Beauty and Terror of Science by Richard Holmes

5.0

I had to ration myself whilst reading this book to stop myself from devouring it too quickly. Starting off with Joseph Banks' presence on Captain Cook's first voyage on the Endeavour to Tahiti and going on to cover various key figures in the age of wonder that was inspired by the Romantic revolution. This is a group biography of those figures and their great scientific discoveries and is very well written and immensely interesting.
