It's one thing to read a biography of Lincoln, and another thing entirely to read one where he is flanked so closely by the men and women who shaped his presidency. Three-dimensional, crisp storytelling with a flair for the cinematic, and to this day one of my favorite non-fiction books I've had the pleasure of reading.
