My Husband by Maud Ventura

3.0

I have such mixed feelings about this book. I went into this assuming it's gonna be a satire or social commentary on the patriarchy in marriage. but this turned out more to be about a sociopath who thinks nothing but of her husband, but not really the man she married but the man who holds the title of her husband.

in some ways it did touch on romanticing marriage and love without actually being in love, which is fascinating but wasn't that nuanced enough for me to get something out of it. i would say it was a weirdly disturbing but enjoyable read but that ending really brought it down for me. it did made it seem like a satire about the push and pull in marriage but this shift/revelation didn't match the tone of the story so far and really cheapened it for me.

note: (assuming) your husband compared you to a clementine is the worst sin a husband can do 😔
