To a God Unknown by John Steinbeck

4.0

A powerful novel inspecting the various ways of faith held by men and how those bonds are weakened or shattered, the connection of people to land, and the legacy of fathers to sons. Joseph Wayne is a powerful protagonist and the novel shows Steinbeck's remarkable ability to describe the land and people's roots in that land, a theme that continues in many of his later novels.
