I don't understand the hate other readers have with the FMC. She's the way she is in the beginning of the story because of some major trauma. The writing of said trauma was a bit weird tho... and King's actions was awful and disgusting and totally not in his character... and the horrible misogyny through out the whole book. I literally cannot even.
One quote:
"He did it once, and he showed me how sorry he is for that even though he had every right to demand that I become his wife in more than name. I recognize that, and I’m more than willing to thank him for his patience in this way." HE HAD EVERY RIGHT??? WHAT YEAR IS THIS???
Another quote:
"(..) knows that once he’s been inside me, he owns me. There’s no going back from that, no getting out of it. Once it’s done, King will control me. He’ll have all the power. Maybe that’s an illusion, but it’s all I have to hold onto. The only bit of control left to me. My own body." I know she has trauma, but I don't know if she says that bacause said trauma or because the author thinks that's what every woman thinks....

Preston's and Dolly's book better fix my whole life now....
