Woooooooooooow! Deep breath. This book was a stomach twisting rollercoaster of a ride; that is, after it hit it's 2nd half.
This book started out much like Sophie's last adventure, chocked full of people making her learn things, to develop her powers, respect stern authority, and go places she as a rather snarky teenager rather wouldn't do, and the plot dragged along until the last half or so of the story.
It was fun guessing at the teasing mystery hovering around Sophie as she sleuthed around her recently estranged father's "summer mansion" and meeting a few new characters.
But that ending had me typing a string of strong expletives (which thankfully didn't make it into this review) and still has me reeling! It was so sudden and well written by Hawkins. Applause! I LOVE me a good cliffhanger. I will definitely be scrambling to read the last book in this series to find out how Sophie's story will conclude.
