Anyone who knows me knows I love a small-town romance, and I really like Juniper Creek. It’s got a great group of people, warm and inviting.

An injured athlete hiding out from the world isn’t a new trope, but it’s a good one. I really felt for Luke, who was hounded by paparazzi culture while trying to cope with the loss of his career and a life-altering injury. I’d be looking to move continents too, and probably a little more than fearful of trusting people. He’s a really great guy, even if he has too much money to fuel his sometimes wild whims.

I loved the pairing with Zayne, the beautiful local soap maker. These two are inexplicably drawn together, and they are sweet and lovely, bringing out the best in each other. Zayne is a kind soul with a lot of love. You can see from a mile away how half-truths are going to crash and burn, but it doesn’t mean the story isn’t truly enjoyable (even if I did cry a bit). And it makes the ending pretty cute.

Now I need to go back and read book one while waiting for book three of course.
