Barbarian's Lady by Ruby Dixon

5.0

5 ⭐ Harrec is hysterical and so freaking adorable with Kate. I love them!

I laughed more in this book than the others in the Ice Planet Barbarian series.

Summary:

At 6ft tall, Kate is the largest of the human women stranded on Not-Hoth. You'd think she'd fit in on a planet full of 7ft tall aliens, but most of the other women are dainty and small, and there's one barbarian that always reminds her of her height - Harrec.

Harrec constantly teases Kate, which makes her uncomfortable and even more self-conscious. But what she doesn't know is Harrec is totally into her! Whenever Harrec makes comments about Kate's height, he's trying to flirt. Unfortunately, Kate's insecurities get in the way of seeing the truth.

After many failed attempts to win Kate's affections, Harrec devises a plan to get her alone the old-fashioned barbarian way by 'stealing' her away from the tribe and living in a cave for a few days. But when things go wrong on a side-trip to a glacier, Harrec and Kate are forced to help each other survive.

My Thoughts:

The best banter of all couples in the Ice Planet Barbarian series! It's so great because Harrec is constantly trying to get a rise out of Kate as a way to flirt because he likes her, but Kate bites back since she thinks he's purposefully cruel. It's a classic case of misunderstanding and comedy gold!

Harrec is the goofiest barbarian of all! I cannot tell you how many times I laughed out loud. There's just something so pure and loveable about this guy.

Another comical element to the story is that both Harrec and Kate are virgins. Because of their inexperience, there's a lot of questions from both individuals like 'what is kissing' and 'what is a spur'? But how Kate and Harrec talk about each new thing to one another is absolutely hilarious. For example:

' “What the fuck is that?”

Harrec chuckles. “I am surprised you have not seen such things around the bathing pool back at the village. That,” he says proudly and leans forward to whisper to me, “is my cock.”

I want to smack a hand to my forehead. “Not that, you ding-a-ling!” I start to point, and then stop myself because I don’t put it past Harrec to grab my hand and give me a guided tour. “The thing above it.”

“My spur?”

“What the heck is a spur?”
