“And girls aren’t supposed to like other girls.”
“Well, some girls do.”

I came out as bisexual around 6 months ago and I’ve been thinking even harder about what it would feel like to be in a relationship/in love with a girl. Some Girls Do is my first official sapphic book, and I think I made a great choice!
Morgan and Ruby have chaotic lives - Ruby especially - but, when their feelings for one another start to clash, everything feels like it’s getting pulled together. I absolutely love both MCs, as well as their lives outside of their relationship! They really feel like two different people drawn to each other while exploring the messiness of young love in the real world.
As someone who has always known she had some kind of attraction to girls she wasn’t ‘supposed’ to have, this book resonates with me on many levels. Ruby’s mom is like mine in some ways - where I felt like I robbed her of her college experience and wanted to make it up to her by living up to her expectations. As with Ruby, I couldn’t do that. And it took me a long time to realize it wasn’t my fault. My mom and I had a huge falling out like Ruby and hers too.
The idea that I could even like girls was something I had been shoving down as hard as I could for most of my life. The bookstagram community and stories like these helped me realize and accept that I can like guys but I can also like girls too…and that’s okay. Some Girls Do has reminded me of my origin story so to speak, and inspired me to embrace that part of me even more.
