The Outrun by Amy Liptrot

4.0

This book had been on my TBR for a while but I was reminded of it when I saw the trailer for the movie based on it with Saoirse Ronan (which looks pretty good), my library had a copy of the audiobook available so I thought it was time.

A beautiful, touching memoir about addiction and recovery and sobriety, but also about the Orkneys and island living, small communities, and nature—the beauty of it, but its challenges and harshness too. It honestly made me want to move to a small island north of Scotland for a summer just to see if I could cope. I found it very fascinating.
