The pacing didn't bother me, but the characters were unsympathetic and when there was tension, or a character was hurt, I didn't care. I didn't even care about the baby around page 211. In fact, around 211 I lost interested and had to force myself to finish this. I skimmed a few pages that dragged. As I said, I was uninterested in all the characters. In fact, the so called "evil richies" were the most interesting part after page 200. This book promised Rosemary's Baby and Salem's Lot and for me it was neither of those things.
