bro i got bored 15% in because of the insta lust like this book did not have to be over 400 pages

dev was an okay mmc. he was charming, funny, but nothing legendary; just okay and that’s fine for me. unfortunately? there’s just something about the way willow was written that made her seem like a child (who constantly needed her older brother’s approval) instead of the grown woman she was. idk. also when did they fall in love? i completely missed it because one minute they’re admitting their crushes and the next they’re dropping “i love you’s” ahhhhh???

@ romance authors, bring back yearning please

this is something not many people have brought up in other reviews but i will. both characters are mixed. willow’s mom is black and her dad is white, while dev’s mom is indian and his dad is white. usually mixed characters’ racial and cultural identities are overlooked in books. but there was surprisingly a lot of  representation of the indian culture with the mcs attending a 3-day cultural wedding and several gujarati phrases were said in this book (also he calls her jaanu, which google says means ‘my beloved’). i also found it endearing that the mmc was obsessed with bollywood movies and the fmc bonded with him by watching them with him. disappointingly, i didn't even know willow was supposed to be black until she described her parents a couple chapters into the book. i literally just thought she was racially ambiguous with brown skin and curls... i really would've liked to see more of willow's culture and identity expanded on (other than mentioning her brown skin and curls every other chapter), especially as a black woman working in pr because dev's racial and cultural background in the f1 scene was brought up several times throughout the book and unfortunately he did face micro-aggressions because of it. anyway i think the discrepancies was important to talk about, especially because the next fmc in the series is a dark skin black woman.
