The narration is so brilliant. As readers we know very little about Callie, our narrator, because she shares so little with her peers at Sea Pines, a mental health facility where she currently lives. Her selective mutism also becomes a road block with her therapist. Readers do have insight into Callie's thoughts and it is clear that she truly does want to get better. For this reason, you can't put the book down.
