Melt for You by J.T. Geissinger
Did not finish book.
2.0
I listened to this on audiobook—it was my first-ever romance audiobook, and I thought the narrator did a decent job with what she was given. I laughed out loud at some of the narrator’s accents for the side characters, who I thought were oddly charming and compelling.
Unfortunately, the rest of the book didn’t work particularly well for me. I found Joellen to be incredibly spineless and far too woebegone for me, and the bad-boy rugby player is kind of gross in the way he utterly dismisses his hookup near the beginning of the book. I usually enjoy the matchup between a former rake and someone less “experienced,” but between their two individual personalities I just couldn’t finish listening.
Also, based on the narrator’s accent, Joellen was meant to be American, but the author used tons of British slang (knickers, shagged, etc.). That’s one of my BIGGEST pet peeves—if you’re going to write a book in a different setting, with a person who is from a different country, do your research!
