Boy, was this dark! I’m not complaining, but I genuinely wasn’t expecting that for some reason.
This book has been languishing on my TBR for years, so I’m glad I finally picked it up. I ended up enjoying it for the most part. It was super messed up and went in a lot of unexpected directions. I just felt like parts of this dragged and went on for way too long. Like, a big chunk was spent outlining her life in prison…and for what? Cut out like 100 pages and I think I would have loved this.
CWs for sexual assault, graphic depictions of jail life, rape, gore/violence, emetophobia, child death, murder, violence involving eyeballs
Story: 3/5
Audiobook: 5/5 (narrated by January LaVoy)
Length: 10h43min
