The magic and world building was excellent but what I especially loved about this book was the coming of age elements of it.

A lot of the time YA either has teenagers acting like 20 somethings or being treated like they aren’t capable of growth and reflection in the story. This book so perfectly depicted teen angst, mistakes, sorrows, regrets, hopes, loves, yearning… it was such a healthy journey through the tumultuous mind of an angsty teen.
