The Love That Split the World by Emily Henry
2.0
I love the premise of this book, but not the execution. At times it was difficult to read because the author spent so much time handicapping the flow of the story with too much psycho-babble analysis and Native American folklore. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved the folklore portions - but they killed the flow of the story. Emily Henry has a lot of room to grow as a writer, and this book showcases that.
The protagonist of the book is a girl who is dealing with the hardships of both wanting to leave home (for the first time) to start college, whilst struggling to leave the people she loves behind. Mix in the anxiety and issues of an adopted child, and stir in a healthy dose of wormhole-travelling and you have this book.
Like I stated before, engaging premise. But, the staccato-flow of the storyteller leaves this book lacking. I picked it up because it was an OWLCRATE recommendation...and the cover is amazing.
This book receives two stars from me. Someone (else) out there may enjoy it.
