The Universe Versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence

5.0

What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful book full of love of reading/books, science, space and an uncommon friendship, a sprinkling of humor and sadness and great characters.

I love that the book reguarly is an ode to reading/books, science and space. I love that Alex loves these things and that they are a big part of who he is.

I love that the book tackles things like growing up, school bulling, friendship, reading, terminal illness, music, chronic illness, the love of life, media, euthanasia, the right to choose for yourself, growing up, science, death and a lot of other things but it never feels like it's too much or overbearing.

I love the awesome boy/young man Alex is and his views on a lot of things resonate with me. He's a very likable character and his voice (he tells us the story of Mr. Peterson and him) is wonderful and compelling.

I love the friendship between him and Mr. Peterson and what it did for the both of them.

Simply, I love this book.
