Pets and the City: True Tales of a Manhattan House Call Veterinarian by Dr. Amy Attas
4.0
It's definitely a good book and did make for a very enjoyable read on my train rides to/from work. Attas clearly cares a lot about her patients and her many stories as a vet in New York kept me engaged and amused.
If there is one thing that kinda annoyed me though it's that Attas frequently keeps bringing up just how many celebrity animals she gets to take care of. Like it was okay at first but after a while it just felt a bit like bragging and there are some points in the story where she legit seems more excited that she's getting to see X celebrity than the fact that X celebrity's pet needs help.
If you're a vet I expect you to put the animal first and in a few occasions the sections were more about the pet's owners rather than the pets themselves. And as someone who genuinely doesn't care one bit about celebrity culture this just got tiring. No, I don't care you know Paul McCartney or any other celebrity, just tell me about their dogs or cats please. That's what I'm here for when I'm reading a book about a vet.
