The Cloisters by Katy Hays

4.0

I just finished this! I enjoyed it. It feels like it’s missing something and is rather heavy handed in the foreshadowing. That being said, I think you’re not even really supposed to be guessing who the criminal is. It’s incredibly clear from the beginning the sort of dynamic that these people have. In terms of writing, I love myself a good academic murder book, but this one is lacking in depth. It’s sort of like being in Disneyland or New York, New York where the buildings are 3/4 size? The look and feel is exactly what you know but something is not. Quite right. I was fine with the two main female characters while reading, I even liked Rachel, but when I reached the end I found myself wishing they had fuller personalities.
