The Shadowhunter's Codex by Cassandra Clare, Joshua Lewis

5.0

So I had a lot of trouble reading this one and I couldn’t understand why because lore for this world is so interesting to me. I realized the reason why I was having so much trouble is because this book reads so much like a textbook. If you have trouble focusing when you read textbooks in class this might prove to be a bit of a challenge while reading the Shadowhunter Codex. It’s really well written and only gives you the “need to know” stuff for every section. It’s all really really cool and feels like an actual shadowhunter manual! It has some really cool illustrations and little notes from the characters that made me want to write in it as well with my own observations and comments. It makes it feel like you’re a part of this world. I honestly loved it and I can refer to this book while reading the series if I forget something! It’s an added layer to the Shadowhunter world that is well constructed and easy to follow.
