The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Islington
5.0
5/5⭐
I went into this book not expecting much, but my god I am impressed.
A lot of people told me it is a little difficult to get into and I can understand why. I tried reading this a long time ago, but I couldn't get past chapter 1. But, I think it was because I wasn't in the mood for an epic fantasy. There are a lot of characters and places, sometimes, I have a hard time remembering names, especially the Elders. The world building is dense. But I LOVE it. Please give me more. I want to know what the F is happening. I want to know what happened in the war, I want to know about Caeden, I want to know more about Taeris Sarr.
This reads like a modern Wheel of Time. Great cast of characters, such an incredible plot full of twists and turns. The more I know, the more confused I become.
I cannot believe how much I loved every single character in this book. Every single one.
I didn't care for Asha at the start, but by page 200, I was dying to read her POV chapters. Such a fantastic coming of age story that rife with mystery and mistrust.
ALSO THE ENDING??????????????????
EXCUSE ME? WHAT?
I'm reading the next book ASAP.
