Been on a YA binge and this one gets the first 5-star review simply for being equally insightful, heartwarming, and inspirational.

This YA debut follows Lilah, our main character, who is having a crisis being stuck in the middle between deaf enough or hearing enough. Good thing she has something to look forward to every summer, Camp Gray Wolf that is a summer camp for deaf and pther dosabled kids. And this year, Lilah is set to be a junior counselor after years of being an attendee.

This is not my first time reading a book that featurrs characters with deafness but I admit that this one gave a lot of new insights about the deaf community and their struggle that I know happens in the real world.

The story may revolve during summer camp at Gray Wolf and majority of the book is told on a cheery note but there are scenes that highlighted ableism that Lilah and her friends encounter outside of camp. This is surely happening in the rral world knowing how unforgiving humans are in reality.

The romance is also commendable, I was waiting what will happen in the third act - will it be cheesy or forced? Good thing yhe author go with the realistic route which complimented the overall story.

Overall, this was such an enjoyable read but please check for content warnings before diving in. I also recommend listening to an audiobook since I enjoyed it with an audio accompaniment while reading.

5stars.
