"Being brave, being courageous is not living a life without great fear... it's realizing that you have the power to choose which fears will guide you, and which are better left behind."
I'm convinced that certain books find us at just the right moments in our lives, exactly when we need them the most. I have no idea where I heard of this book, but somehow it ended up in my library haul. And boy am I thankful it did!
This visually stunning book got me through the month of December. It gave me the opportunity to sit with my feelings of fear and unknowns, reflect on my tangled emotions/thoughts, and be inspired by my own magic. Each chapter was full of gorgeous watercolor artworks, beautifully written insights, and reflection questions that I used as journaling prompts. It's a book now entangled in my heart.
I think it's important to realize that self-help books should be taken with a grain of salt; they don't contain all the answers, they can't replace therapy, and they can sometimes contain privilege, biases, and oversimplifications. Nevertheless, I think it's also important to realize and honor the value of inspiration, which has a great power all on its own. This book inspired the heck out of me and for that I am grateful.
