Just a Bit Heartless by Alessandra Hazard

adventurous challenging dark emotional hopeful lighthearted fast-paced

5.0

Utterly and ridiculously addictive. Alessandra Hazard has done it again, and I'm praying she never stops writing this OTT, absolutely riveting, smoking hot, series because I might actually die from heartbreak (and boredom).

I think this could actually be my favourite "Straight Guys" novel, or at least, it comes very, very close to "Just a Bit Wrecked" for its sheer deliciousness: they both have very similar atmosphere and the same needy, I-don't-what-is-happening-but-now-I-can't-live-without-you, pining-from-afar-after-a-traumatic-experience, so I guess it's no surprise I ended up loving this one so much. Jordan and Damiano are very different from Logan and Andrew though, and I loved them to absolute bits. Both of them were surprising, and ridiculously easy to fall in love with: Jordan was such a fabulous character, and I loved seeing his more put-together, confident side and his more insecure, needy and vulnerable one too.
And Damiano too, for all he's a killer and a mobster and supposedly an unfeeling monster, he's actually one of the least toxic love interests AH has written: sure, he's a killer, but he's also achingly lonely and insecure and considerate and just, really hot. Their relationship was absolutely fantastic and the chemistry?! The steam?! I have never blushed so hard. Rough and needy and all-consuming, and just a tiny bit kinky: utterly delicious stuff, 100% approved.

As usual with AH's novels, I wished this could have been a touch longer (and yes, sue me, but a bit more hurt/comfort and a few more scenes showcasing Damiano's overprotectiveness would have been nice as well), but all in all, I was VERY satisfied and I can't wait to re-read. I also cannot wait for the next book: I'm very intrigued by its premise.
