I'm back with reading Sherlock!
The Hound of the Baskervilles - 4.5/5
I really enjoyed most of this story. I can't put my novel down 95% of the time. The setting is so gloomy and eerie. Love that Dr. Watson was given the spotlight here. He was more exposed in the scene. I also predicted the twist of the mysterious lurker. This would have been a favorite of mine, if not for the ending. I don't like the explanation of the mystic hound.
The Valley of Fear - 4.5/5
Part 1
The setup of the murder kinda reminded me of an Agatha Christie novel. It seems like a whodunnit and the people living in the house are very suspicious. Also liked the cipher in the start. Quite intrigued on what will happen on Part 2. Sherlock has declared that the danger isn't over yet.
Part 2
Well, that took quite a turn. Once again, the story has been divided into two parts, and the second half focused more on someone's backstory, similar to the format of A Study in Scarlet. The difference between this and the aforementioned story is that I really enjoyed this second part. I almost forgot that I am reading Holmes.
Overall, a good story, and I also enjoyed this one.
HIS LAST BOW
The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge - 1.5/5
What in the hells was that? It was chaotic. I loved the mystery at the start but the ending was meh.
The Adventure of the Cardboard Box - 2/5
Jealousy, jealousy... it never did any good on humanity.
The Adventure of the Red Circle - 3/5
The mystery of the lodger was engaging. The secret code for the messages and the way they were sent was quite fun.
The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans - 4/5
The way the body was disposed of was familiar. I think I have read or watched something similar before but I could not remember. Is this scene in the BBC adaptation or Elementary? I can't remember. Overall, a very intriguing case.
The Adventure of the Dying Detective - 4.25/5
Sherlock uses himself as a bait for the culprit. Enjoyed his theatrics here.
The Disappearance of Lady Frances Carfax - 3.75/5
That was scary. Imagine if you were in Lady Carfax' position.
The Adventure of the Devil's Foot - 4/5
Imagine if an evil presence was the real culprit. How fascinating was this case. The approach of the murderer is like an assassin. With the way the victims were found, I had a hunch what was used as a murder weapon.
His Last Bow - 1.5/5
Meh. The only thing that made me smile was when von Bork saw the title of the book that was handed to him.
THE CASE-BOOK OF SHERLOCK HOLMES
The Adventure of the Illustrious Client - 2.5/5
Love can really make people do foolish things. Lady de Merville was frustrating. I also didn't get who was implied as the client of this case.
The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier - 5/5
I liked this one. I was thinking of a grim situation with regards to the secrecy of Godfrey's whereabouts and I am glad that it wasn't as bad as what I imagined. Also loved that Sherlock was the one telling the story.
The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone - 3.75/5
Sherlock's prank at the end was funny. Love the dummy that was utilized for the case.
The Adventure of the Three Gables - 1.75/5
Not really enjoyable. Outdated and offensive terminologies were also used jn this story.
The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire - 4/5
Fascinating how love manifests in other people.
The Adventure of the Three Garridebs - 3.75/5
A red herring! I was about to say that I am also a Garrideb. I want that money!
The Problem of Thor Bridge - 4.25/5
What an intricate plan for the murder. This also proves my point further that jealousy and love combined can result in unexpected and gruesome ways.
The Adventure of the Creeping Man - 4/5
Kinda sci-fi, but I like the mystery and was curious at the solution.
The Adventure of the Lion's Mane - 3.5/5
An unusual and creative idea for a murderer. No one will be able to immediately guess the killer.
The Adventure of the Veiled Lodger - 4.25/5
I love circus/carnival-related stuff. The reveal of what really happened, plus the motive was great.
The Adventure of the Shoscombe Old Place - 2.75/5
Horses! Other than that, what a grim thing to do to the bones.
The Adventure of the Retired Colourman - 4.75/5
This is the last adventure I'll ever have with Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson. I loved the plot and the explanation of the crime.
