I was gobsmacked by the abandonment Ariadne suffered. Truly, truly intrigued from then on out, and the structure was *french kiss*. The language was beautiful, though I do prefer simplicity in metaphor. Simple and powerful. This was complex and interesting. Still very much worth the read and many rereads. Would rename it ‘Ariadne and Phaedra’ as their voices really ebbed a beautiful retelling of their stories. Siri, play ‘norman fucking rockwell’ by Lana del Rey :/
